International Jazz Day is celebrated on April 30th every year. UNESCO’s General Conference proclaimed in November 2011 to recognize jazz as “a means to develop and increase intercultural exchanges and understanding between cultures for mutual comprehension and tolerance.” The day brings together communities, schools, artists, historians, academics, and jazz enthusiasts all over the world to celebrate and learn about the art of jazz, its roots, its future, and its impact.
